Eau des Îles means water of the islands.

We are a perfume house in Vanuatu, in the South Pacific Islands.

Our name pays tribute to Vanuatu's French heritage and plays on the perfumer's phrase eau de parfum. The mark above it is a traditional sailing canoe, the vessel that has carried people between our islands across the vast blue for thousands of years.

Every fragrance we make begins with an experience from our islands, in relationship to a place and the people who know it.

LeiMalo belongs to the Pango community and the Vanuatu Surf Association, on Efate. Aro to the Wuro community on Ambrym. Vaitotoka and Helava Dusk to Oinafa, on Rotuma in the Fiji Islands.

These are not references or inspirations. They are built on benefit-sharing agreements with indigenous clans, which means the communities whose places and languages these fragrances carry hold a stake in them.

What goes into the bottle

Our botanical oils are wild-harvested by hand, in season, from customary land rather than plantation. The alcohol comes from 83 Islands, our local distillery producing alcohol from sugar cane grown on Vanuatu's islands. Our carrier oils come from trees along the coastline, the same trees that reduce coastal erosion that are threatened by deforestation. Every bottle we sell is a reason to leave one standing.
